Ms. Nayyab Ali is a published author, social scientist, and renowned human rights and political activist whose expertise spans human and institutional capacity development, gender equality, policy analysis, and pink economic strategy. She holds an MA in International Relations & Development and a Postgraduate Diploma in Women & Gender Studies, and her peer-reviewed research on transgender livelihoods, intersectional discrimination, and the pink economy underpins Transgender Rights evidence-based advocacy for economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods . Since 2018, Nayyab has served as Executive Director of Transgender Rights Consultants Pakistan (TGPK), designing capacity-building and policy-reform programs that center marginalized voices . As In-charge of the Islamabad Police’s Transgender Protection Unit, she developed inclusive policing protocols now replicated across multiple provinces . In her role as National Coordinator of the All Pakistan Transgender Election Network, she has mobilized voter registration drives, candidate training, and accessible polling initiatives, while her Khawaja Sira Community Centre in Okara provides literacy, vocational training, life-skills education, and driving classes to community members . A principal drafter of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2018, Nayyab also authored the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transgender Welfare Endowment Fund Bill (2022), the KP Transgender & Intersex Rights Bill (2022), and the Punjab Transgender Protection Bill (2020) . Appointed amicus curiae to the Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan, she provided Islamic-jurisprudence analyses affirming transgender self-identification under Sharia and led the successful Lahore High Court appeal upholding those rights . A U.S. State Department alumna and UNDP-appointed Gender Equality Advocate, she has consulted for UN Women and UNFPA on SOGIE-inclusive development, spoken at UN bilateral forums in New York and Geneva on “Leave No One Behind” commitments . Her groundbreaking work has earned six international awards, including the Franco-German Prize for Human Rights & the Rule of Law (2020), the GALAS International Activist Award (2020), the APCOM HERO Asia Award (2020), and the Asia Hero Award (2020) .
