About me
I have been a passionate advocate at the forefront of the LGBTQ movement in Jamaica, deeply committed to advancing equality and creating safe spaces for marginalized communities. In 2016, I served as the co-chair for Jamaica's first public Pride celebrations, a historic milestone that symbolized visibility, resilience, and the strength of the LGBTQ community. This role allowed me to help shape a platform for advocacy and cultural expression, sparking conversations about acceptance and inclusion on a national scale.
As the Executive Director of Jamaica’s only organization led by and focused on LBQ women, I have dedicated my career to addressing the unique challenges faced by this community. My work has focused on dismantling systemic barriers, advocating for rights in spaces where access is otherwise limited, and ensuring that LBQ voices are not just heard but amplified in policy and societal reform.
One of my most notable achievements is founding the LGBTQ Community Centre, a transformative initiative that provides a safe haven and resources for LGBTQ individuals. The Centre offers vital services, including healthcare, a green space, advocacy training, and community engagement, and has become a beacon of hope for those navigating the intersection of discrimination and resilience.
