Ms. Nayyab Ali is a researcher, renowned human rights and political activist, and Capacity development expert with professional experience working on gender equality, livelihoods, and economic empowerment. She has a background in human and institutional capacity development; and expertise in Social Research.
Nayyab Ali is the Pakistani transgender woman to raise Pakistan's name on International Platforms by receiving six international awards, including the Franco-German prize for human rights and the rule of law and many national awards for her tremendous contributions to the transgender Community.
She has been associated with various UN agencies (UNDP, UNFPA, UN Women) to advocate for Trans rights. She has actively engaged with government agencies and state departments as a technical advisor for developing various legal frameworks at the national and provincial levels to protect the rights of the trans Community in Pakistan.
In 2018 she fought for political office from the constituency NA142 Okara and became the first-ever openly and legally recognized transgender woman to contest elections in Pakistan. She is the National Coordinator of the All Pakistan Transgender Election Network in Pakistan and is actively engaged in the political empowerment of her Community.
She is currently in charge of the Transgender Protection Unit of Islamabad Police and Executive Director of an NPO, "Transgender Rights Consultants Pakistan."
