Lucas Paoli Itaborahy is an experienced LGBTI+ activist and human rights specialist with over 15 years of expertise advancing equality in Brazil and internationally. His comprehensive background spans government service, multilateral advocacy, and innovative community programming, positioning him as a bridge-builder between institutional policy and grassroots empowerment.
Itaborahy's government experience includes work within the Brazilian federal system and at Brazil's UN mission in Geneva, providing him with deep understanding of both domestic policy implementation and international human rights mechanisms. His consulting work with prominent international NGOs including ILGA World, ARC, COC, and Koppa has contributed to global LGBTI+ advocacy strategies and knowledge sharing across diverse contexts.
From 2011 to 2015, Itaborahy authored ILGA's influential State-Sponsored Homophobia report, documenting legal frameworks affecting LGBTI+ communities worldwide while participating in strategic lobbying and advocacy efforts at the UN and other multilateral institutions. This work established him as a leading voice in international human rights documentation and policy advocacy.
Through his leadership of Micro Rainbow International Foundation's economic empowerment program in Brazil, Itaborahy has supported over 600 low-income LGBTI+ entrepreneurs in stepping out of poverty and improving their livelihoods since 2015. In 2022, he launched Diversità Consultoria, expanding entrepreneurship opportunities for LGBTIQ+ people throughout Brazil and demonstrating his commitment to sustainable economic justice.
Itaborahy holds a master's degree in Human Rights Practice from the University of Roehampton (UK), where he was honored with the 2024 Alumni Inspiration and Innovation Award, recognizing his transformative contributions to human rights advancement through both policy and practice.
