Gilbert Mitullah is a globally recognised advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, a seasoned lawyer, and a consultant with over a decade of expertise in governance, legal audits, litigation, advocacy, and research. He has dedicated his career to advancing the rights of marginalized communities, particularly LGBTQ+ individuals in Kenya and Africa.
Gilbert is the Managing Partner at Mitullah, Shako, and Associates Advocates, a socially conscious law firm recognized for its service to the LGBTQ+ community. He also co-founded the Alliance for Strategic Minority Leadership (ASML) to support LGBTQ+ political inclusion, and Kivuli, a wellness and leadership initiative for GBTQ men in Kenya. His advocacy work spans legal reform, strategic litigation, and community empowerment, and he serves on the boards of ORAM East Africa and the Queer African Network.
With legal, academic, and advocacy credentials earned in Nairobi and Oxford, Gilbert continues to shape just and inclusive systems across the continent.
