Eric Ethington is a nonprofit and business executive with over 20 years of experience advancing high-impact social change across public and private sector institutions, including Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and philanthropic organizations. He specializes in building strategic engagement among key stakeholders to drive progress on urgent equity and inclusion challenges.
As Vice President of Corporate Citizenship at the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC), Ethington oversees the Workplace Equality Program, which administers the Corporate Equality Index—the nation's leading benchmark for LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion. Through this program, he provides data, tools, and guidance to help employers build inclusive environments where all employees can thrive while leading HRC's corporate engagement strategy to foster strategic partnerships that advance inclusion across society.
Prior to rejoining HRC, Ethington led the North America Social Impact practice at Corporate Citizenship, advising companies on driving meaningful change through corporate purpose, philanthropy, and stakeholder engagement. His experience also includes leading corporate partnership efforts at the National Park Foundation and serving as Vice President at Weber Shandwick, where he helped companies shape leading social impact and public affairs campaigns.
Earlier in his career, Ethington helped launch and grow HRC's Workplace Equality Program, establishing it as the national voice on LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion. He began his professional journey at Accenture, working in change management and organizational effectiveness. Through his cross-sector work, he mobilizes support for policy priorities that advance civil rights and social equity globally.
Ethington holds degrees in Business Management and Sociology from Bucknell University and lives in Washington, DC.
