About me
Chiron Hooson, a 28-year-old mixed-race gay man, is a dynamic advocate for LGBTQIA+ communities in Australia. Since moving to Melbourne over two years ago, Chiron has excelled as the Conference & Events Coordinator at Thorne Harbour Health, where he organizes events that uplift and support LGBTQIA+ communities and people living with HIV in Victoria. His impressive portfolio includes the 40th-anniversary Ruby Red charity ball, the Australia LGBTIQ+ Women's Health Conference, and World AIDS Day events, including Australia’s only commemorative fun run for the day of national significance. He also led the World AIDS Day state wide appeal and delivered Pride programs for Midsumma and regional Victoria.
Chiron’s dedication extends beyond events, serving as Chair of the Multicultural Advisory Committee and a member of Thorne Harbour Health’s Drucker Committee. In recognition of his leadership and impact, he was honored with a place on the Out For Australia 30 Under 30 Awards.
Chiron’s advocacy began in Wales, where he was an LGBTIQ+ Rep and student senator at Cardiff University and a school ambassador for Just Like Us, promoting visibility in rural communities. While in London, Chiron organized Pride campaigns and found creative expression as the bold and brilliant drag queen Chiffon Cumrag. His work continues to inspire inclusion and celebration within the LGBTQIA+ community.
