Alyssa N. Griego spent her developmental years in the East Los Angeles area and Inglewood, CA during these times she struggled with clinical depression, social anxiety, and is a suicide attempt survivor. As a teen she found the power of performance and began sharing her own story on mental health. At UCLA, her degree in U.S. History, the Chicana/o Studies department, and her training in non-violence tactics from Rev. Lawson (worked with MLK JR.) provided her with the knowledge to better understand systemic problems within her community. It was here where she performed and gave talks on current issues that were impacting Latinx, BIPOC, and queer students while lobbying at the state capital for No Means No. She merged filmmaking with performance art and after graduation she entered the film world. She also released Sad Girl, Strong Woman as a poetry book and is set to release her second poetry book Words of Redemption in 2025. She is currently in development for a documentary called Hate, By Design focusing on Mexican and Central American generational trauma from criminalization. After working in the entertainment industry, she left due to the treatment of her peers and the lack of mental health initiatives. Alyssa began training in alternative healing modalities such as Reiki, tarot, mindfulness, mediumship work, and Mexica practices. She started The Artxst and continued to work with people within the entertainment industry, children, and leaders of communities. In 2021, she began exploring Blockchain technology and the NFT space. 2022 she hosted online and IRL meditation experiences for Web 2 and Web 3. Alyssa’s goal is to help these industries implement change with health justice, representation of minorities, and show people that empathy, education, and wellness can transform lives and provide models for doing things differently. This is why she has formed Ground Uxp a company committed to creating compassionate leadership through visualization meditations, education, and non-violence tactics.
