This innovative workshop applies the KOPPA LGBTI+ framework to explore the vital intersection of economic justice and human rights for LGBTQIA2S+ communities worldwide. Drawing on principles of Knowledge, Ownership, Participation, Power, and Access, participants will examine how economic empowerment serves as a foundation for advancing broader human rights goals and community resilience.
Participants will:
  • Analyze systemic barriers to economic participation facing LGBTQIA2S+ people across different contexts
  • Explore successful models of community-owned enterprises and cooperative economics
  • Develop strategies for increasing LGBTQIA2S+ representation in key economic sectors and decision-making spaces
  • Learn approaches for leveraging economic power to influence policy and corporate practices
  • Design interventions that address economic disparities within our communities while building collective wealth
Facilitated by experts in LGBTQIA2S+ economic development and human rights advocacy, this workshop combines theoretical frameworks with practical applications that participants can adapt to their local contexts. The session emphasizes sustainable, community-centered approaches that build economic power without replicating harmful systems.
Join us to strengthen our collective understanding of how economic empowerment can serve as a powerful tool for advancing human rights globally.
